Place the hook of the tool over the head of the rail, and as the body of the tool rises the scissor action closes the pincers and lock into the shoulder. Once located grasp both handles of the ‘Tee’ bar, and stand ‘naturally’ with feet apart then move one leg half a pace back, to prevent loss of balance during sleeper lifting. Push the handle away to lift any ‘dropped’ sleeper if ballast conditions do not support the sleepers engaging with the foot of the rail. These tools should be used in pairs to lift the sleeper to locate both rails simultaneously with the rail seats of the sleeper. The sleeper lifter can used on the same rail seat as the FASTCLIP installer, by locating between the hooks of the installation tool.
